Flashcards and revision
Flashcards and spaced repetition for revision
Rereading a definition and recalling it from memory are different exercises. A flashcard asks you a question before showing the answer. Gradia decks and spaced repetition help you return to the topics you want to remember for your exams.
Create cards that practise recall
Build a deck around a module or topic. Prefer one specific question and a short answer per card: a definition, a formula or a step in a reasoning process. Try to answer before turning the card over, then compare with the answer you prepared.
Tell new cards apart from due reviews
A card you have never studied remains a card to discover. It counts towards the cards offered for review, alongside cards whose review date has arrived. A deck with new cards is therefore not presented as up to date, even when no previously studied card is due today.
Review or browse freely
During a review, your rating after seeing the answer helps schedule the next review. If you simply want to look through a deck, choose Browse freely: this mode leaves your revision schedule unchanged. Discover shows other students' public decks; your own decks remain in My practice.
Build a spaced repetition routine
Start with due cards
Open My practice to find cards ready for review. A few topics practised carefully provide a clearer goal than a long reread without questions.
Rate what you actually recalled
After attempting the answer, choose the rating that reflects your recall. Recognising an answer afterwards is different from being able to explain it yourself.
Connect cards to your exam work
After working on a paper, turn a difficult topic into a focused card. Return to your course or a verified correction when a card needs context; flashcards complement practice with exam papers.
